What You’ll Do

As a key member of our team, you’ll play an essential role in delivering high-quality, personalized care for students with autism and other developmental disabilities. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Implementing ABA programs aligned with students’ Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) during onsite and remote sessions.
  • Providing direct care to students, following their Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) while ensuring safety, dignity, and respect.
  • Collecting and recording data on observable student behavior, maintaining graphs, and assisting with visual progress tracking.
  • Preparing materials and workspaces to support a smooth and productive school day.
  • Accompanying students on community outings or vocational placements as specified by their programs.

To qualify for a Behavior Specialist position at Milestones Behavioral Services, applicants must:

  • Hold a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent. Associate’s degree or bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • RBT credential preferred.
  • Experience in the implementation of behavioral assessment/treatment programs with the developmentally disabled population is highly preferred.
  • A basic knowledge of computer systems and applicable software and proficiency with e-mail communication.
  • Good organizational, multitasking, and communication skills (oral and written).
  • Required to follow all safety procedures and requirements.
  • When implementing emergency procedures (‘PMT’), must perform maneuvers and actions associated with managing students independently or as part of an orchestrated team effort.
  • Must be able to physically care for younger children up to 6 years old with or without assistance of one or additional designated persons.
  • The job duties require an employee to routinely and safely demonstrate heavy to very heavy physical demands associated with ‘hand on’ efforts when physically managing students, under routine, emergency, and/or aggressive behavior management scenarios.
  • This position requires in-person, on-site attendance.

The salary range for Behavior Specialists at Milestones Behavioral Services in Connecticut typically starts at an hourly range of $18 USD to $30 USD. Compensation may vary based on experience, education, and certifications.

The daily responsibilities of a Behavior Specialist include:

  • Delivering Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) programs based on students’ Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Providing direct care to students and following their Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs).
  • Collecting data on observable student behavior, updating graphs, and preparing materials for the school day.
  • Accompanying students on community outings or vocational placements as needed.
  • Maintaining professionalism and adhering to safety protocols, such as using PPE and implementing PMT techniques when necessary.
