Community Outreach — Education and Training

Milestones Behavioral Services will meet the specific requests of emergency teams (Police/Fire/EMS), hospitals, medical and dental offices, attorneys, advocates, educational professionals, parent support groups or school, civic or community groups as well as businesses that would like to learn more about individuals on the autism spectrum.

Milestones staff has provided:
  • Workshops with role playing for positive approaches when encountering and responding to an upset person with a special need
  • Presentations to adults, siblings, children/teens on the capabilities, talents and challenges of a life with autism

Topics can include Handling Problem Behavior in an Emergency Situation, an Overview of Autism Spectrum Disorder, Behavior Triage, Applied Behavior Analysis Programs or issues of interest to your group.

These information sessions can take place at the appropriate Milestones campus in Milford or Orange or at another location.

Milestones is dedicated to educating the community and works collaboratively with local organizations to help spread awareness. Groups can be as small as 5 or much larger and can be an hour or longer. Single or multiple engagements can be designed.

The goals of MBS are multifaceted:
  • Educate and teach individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities to live lives with joy and purpose.
  • Support families of those with special needs.
  • Educate the community to the abilities and challenges of those living with autism and other developmental disabilities.
  • Expand the impact of Behavior Analysts.
