Milestones is well-positioned to provide support around these and other system-wide endeavors with its team of very experienced professionals.

Evaluation & Planning
For clients with known or suspected special needs, Milestones evaluates the specific concerns, abilities and needs of each individual. Our team has particular expertise in developmental disabilities and autism. We provide reports intended to guide the development of appropriate programming.

Professional Development
Today’s schools serve a diverse range of students and face a variety of evolving challenges. Continued professional development is key to effectively address these challenges. Milestones consultants are experienced in providing specialized, engaging instruction to a variety of groups.

Individual Case Consultation
Not all children are the same and there are times when a child’s needs and complexities call for an additional level of expertise and experience. Our dedicated and experienced consultants stand ready to provide the clinical skills necessary to support staff in the management and remediation of the various social, behavioral, or adaptive challenges that children may present.

Treatment Of Problem Behavior
Milestones offers a continuum of treatment services for individuals diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and/or other developmental disabilities who display problem behaviors (e.g., physical aggression, self-injurious behavior, noncompliance) that interfere with social, independent and academic functioning. Additionally, Milestones’ staff works with individuals who lack the appropriate adaptive skills (e.g., independent toileting) necessary to function as independently as possible in the least restrictive environment.
The continuum of treatment services varies with respect to intensity of need and previous services/treatments received. This includes problem focused consultation to caregivers and school personnel.
Consultation for Food Refusal & Selectivity
Milestones offers customized feeding programs for children ages 2 years and up who are experiencing challenges with food intake and other mealtime difficulties. Children appropriate for these services may be typically functioning or diagnosed with a developmental disability, including an Autism Spectrum Disorder. Using scientifically validated assessment and treatment procedures, our team identifies the child’s challenges, assesses why they are occurring, and then develops and works with families or providers to implement individualized programs to overcome those challenges.
Some of the feeding issues we address include:
- Food refusal
- Food selectivity
- Challenging behaviors during feeding and mealtimes
